Now we’re going to introduce you to the next band that will also perform in SPACE SHOWER RETSUDEN ASIA TOUR 2017 powered by MCIP! This time we have…. 04 Limited Sazabys!
The band started their career in Nagoya in 2008, and released their limited single standing here in July 2010 and their first mini album Marking all!! the next month. The band now consists of GEN (vocals, bass), HIROKAZ (guitars), RYU-TA (guitars, backing vocals), and KOUHEI (drums, backing vocals).
04 Limited Sazabys released their second album eureka in September 2016, which they followed with a tour with guest bands like Good Morning America, Kyuso Nekokami, tricot, and others. Then, starting in December, they embarked on eureka tour 2016-2017 ~one man series~ that lasted until January 2017. Afterwards, on February 11, they held their one-man live in Nippon Budokan. And now they are coming to Singapore – let’s get to know them more!
When people see your name, we bet many would automatically think “Ah, they must love Gundam.” Is this true?
It’s actually not so much our current members but our former drummer who was a huge Gundam fan and he suggested the name.
How was 04 Limited Sazabys formed? Please tell us a bit about the band’s history.
GEN asked HIROKAZ to join the band, HIROKAZ invited RYU-TA, and a band playing melodic punk was born. KOUHEI joined after that.
Congratulations on the release of your second album, eureka, in September 2016. It was released a few months after your second major single, AIM, and one year after your previous album, CAVU. How different was the process in making the first and the second albums?
We produced eureka after our major debut and with the little time we had in between tours and promotions. We also ended up extending our production period and worked on it up to the last minute to make it even better.
You’ve played in many festivals. Is there any unforgettable memory from those festivals that you play with other bands?
A bee once landed on GEN’s microphone.
If you can collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
SMAP
What do you enjoy most about touring?
The afterparty.
You guys come from different prefectures – Aichi, Ishikawa, Gifu. If you have to promote your home prefecture to other people, what would you say to them?
Nagoya’s a big city, but the music scene there isn’t very developed yet and still has a lot of potential to grow, so we’d like to lead the music scene there and liven things up.
Also, the food in Nagoya is delicious.
Last but not least, please say a thing or two for the people looking forward to the live in Singapore!
Even though we don’t speak the same language, there’s still the melody and groove so do come listen to our music for yourself.
