Untuk panduan dalam bahasa Indonesia, geser terus ke bawah!

We think, of course, Johnny’s Jimusho needs no introduction. The agency has spawned popular group after popular group for decades. But maybe for people who are not familiar with Tokyo, especially with Harajuku, a guide is still needed to go to the store that sells Johnny’s groups’ merchandise, mainly pictures. So here goes:

The shop is located in Harajuku, and since Tokyo is crisscrossed by so many train and subway lines, there are several train stations from which you can walk to the shop. You can even walk from Shibuya, so long you find the route there (Shibuya and Harajuku are close to each other, believe us!). But the nearest station would be Harajuku train station on the JR Yamanote Line and the Meiji-jingu-mae/Harajuku subway station on the Fukutoshin and Chiyoda lines (these two stations are basically side by side).

When you arrive using a JR train in Harajuku station, choose to go out from Omotesando exit, not the Takeshita-dori exit.

If you arrive on Fukutoshin or Chiyoda lines, find an exit that says it will take you to the JR station.

Right across the street, you will see a GAP store. Cross the street, then walk to the right. You will arrive at a junction. Now turn the corner to the left.

Now, we have to use some landmarks as pointers, and the buildings around are all stores, but stores in Tokyo can change really quick so it’s a bit difficult to use them in a guide. (We followed an older blog post to the shop, to find one of the stores mentioned in it had been demolished.) We hope the Saint Marc Cafe – better known as ChocoCro – will survive long enough until the time you visit the area to go to the shop.

In short, when you notice the ChocoCro, walk forward some more steps, and you’ll find a small alley on your left. Anyway it’s the first alley from the time you turned left at the junction earlier. When we wrote this guide, there’s a takoyaki shop at the corner to the alley.

From here, it’s easy. You just have to walk forward a bit following the curving alley, and you’ll see the shop – or the fans lining up first. In certain days, weekends for example, the shop can be really crowded, and you will have to line up with numbered tickets distributed by staff. You can only enter the shop when your number is called. But when it’s not crowded, then just go straight into the basement. There will always be staff guiding you around the entrance, anyway.

So here we are, at the basement. (Sorry, taking pictures in and around the store is forbidden, so we have to rely on our imagination from this point on.) You will see several racks on the walls, where they hang examples of pictures. The pictures are grouped according to the artists shown – so you will see groups of Arashi pictures, KAT-TUN pictures, NEWS pictures, and so on, in their own ‘corners’. Maybe there will be examples of some goods too. You will see that each picture is individually number-coded.

Now find the purchase form near you. They usually also provide pens, in case you forget to bring yours. Just make sure you remember to return the pens at the containers available near the exit from the basement.

Each sheet form will be only for one ‘corner’ (ie one artist group). You need to write down which corner you want the pictures from on the first page of the form (if you can’t read Japanese, just find the big empty box at the center near the top. Fill it with the name of the artist group whose pictures you want to buy.)

Now you will see tables with numbers (1, 2, …50, 51, 52… and so on), with an empty column next to each number column. These are the number-codes of the pictures/goods; and the empty column is for writing how many of that pictures/goods you want. So let’s say you want to buy 3 sheets of Arashi’s picture number 47  (because you want to give them to 2 of your friends and keep one for yourself), just write ‘3’ next to the number 47 on the form.

Should you want to buy pictures/goods from more than one artist group, you need to get one form for each group. It seems a waste of resources, we know, but it helps making service quicker.

Done choosing and writing down your order? Now exit the basement (open air again! Hurray! For a while!), then go to the first floor (or ground floor) and line up. Hand the form(s) to the staff that will find your orders, pay for them, and… voila! You’ve finished purchasing your original Johnny’s merchandise! Now, shall we go to find some nice crepe place in Harajuku?

Johnny’s Shop in Harajuku opens from 10 am to 7 pm.

Kami pikir, tentunya Johnny’s Jimusho tidak perlu diperkenalkan lagi. Agensi ini telah menelurkan berbagai grup tenar selama berdasawarsa-dasawarsa. Namun barangkali bagi orang-orang yang belum akrab dengan Tokyo, terutama Harajuku, masih dibutuhkan panduan untuk mendatangi toko yang menjual pernak-pernik grup-grup Johnny, terutama foto. Jadi inilah dia:

Cabang toko yang satu ini terletak di Harajuku, dan karena di Tokyo ada sedemikian banyak jalur kereta dan kereta bawah-tanah yang bersaling-silang, ada beberapa stasiun kereta yang bisa menjadi titik awal langkahmu ke Johnny’s Shop. Bahkan kamu bisa jalan kaki dari Shibuya, asalkan kamu tahu rute ke Harajuku (Shibuya dan Harajuku itu berdekatan, kok!). Tapi stasiun terdekat adalah stasiun kereta Harajuku di jalur Yamanote milik JR, atau stasiun kereta bawah-tanah Meiji-jingu-mae/Harajuku yang berada di jalur Fukutoshin dan Chiyoda (kedua stasiun ini pada dasarnya berdampingan).

Kalau kamu menggunakan kereta JR, sewaktu tiba di stasiun Harajuku, agar mudah pilihlah untuk keluar melalui gerbang Omotesando, bukan gerbang Takeshita-dori.

Bila kamu tiba melalui jalur Fukutoshin atau Chiyoda, carilah gerbang yang mengarahkanmu ke stasiun JR.

Tepat di seberang jalan dari tempatmu keluar stasiun, ada toko GAP. Seberangilah jalan, lalu melangkahlah ke kanan. Tidak jauh dari situ, ada persimpangan. Sekarang berbeloklah ke kiri.

Seharusnya memang kami menggunakan bangunan yang mencolok sebagai patokan, namun semua bangunan di daerah sekitar situ merupakan toko. Toko-toko di Tokyo bisa jadi lekas berganti, sehingga sulit digunakan dalam panduan jalan sebagai patokan. (Kami mengikuti tulisan di blog yang lebih tua saat mencoba menuju Johnny’s Shop, namun ternyata salah satu toko yang dijadikan patokan sudah dirubuhkan.) Kami harap Saint Marc Cafe – lebih umum dikenal sebagai ChocoCro – dapat bertahan cukup lama sampai kamu tiba di daerah itu demi mengunjungi Johnny’s Shop.

Singkatnya, kalau kamu melihat ChocoCro, jalan terus sedikit, dan akan ada jalan kecil di sebelah kiri. Itu adalah belokan pertama setelah sebelumnya kamu belok kiri di persimpangan. Saat ini di belokan itu ada toko takoyaki.

Dari sini, tidak jauh lagi kok. Jalan saja mengikuti jalan kecil yang membengkok itu, dan tokonya pasti segera terlihat – atau kamu akan melihat antrian penggemar terlebih dulu. Di hari-hari tertentu, saat akhir minggu misalnya, Johnny’s Shop bisa jadi sangat ramai, dan kita harus mengantri dengan tiket bernomor yang dibagikan staf. Kita baru bisa memasuki toko sewaktu nomor kita dipanggil. Tapi kalau sedang tidak ramai, langsung saja masuk ke lantai bawah tanah. Yang jelas akan selalu ada staf yang siap memandu kita di dekat pintu masuk.

Nah, kini kita berada di ruang bawah tanah gedung. (Maaf, memotret di dalam maupun di sekitar toko dilarang, jadi dari sini kita harus mengandalkan daya khayal kita.) Akan terlihat jejeran rak gantung di dinding, di mana contoh-contoh foto dipajang. Foto-foto itu dikelompokkan sesuai artis yang ditunjukkan – jadi kita akan melihat kelompok foto Arashi, foto KAT-TUN, foto NEWS, dan lain sebagainya, di area masing-masing yang disebut ‘corner’. Mungkin juga ada contoh pernak-pernik lain. Kita bisa lihat bahwa masing-masing foto/pernak-pernik diberi kode nomor individual.

Sekarang carilah formulir pembelian di dekat-dekatmu. Biasanya toko juga menyediakan pulpen, kalau-kalau kamu lupa bawa punyamu sendiri. Asal ingat untuk mengembalikan pulpen itu ke wadah yang tersedia di dekat tempat keluar dari ruang bawah tanah.

Untuk setiap ‘corner’ (alias satu grup artis) gunakanlah satu lembar formulir tersendiri. Tuliskan dari ‘corner’ mana foto yang kamu inginkan di halaman pertama formulir itu (bila kamu tidak bisa membaca tulisan Jepang, cari saja kotak kosong besar di tengah, dekat bagian atas formulir. Tuliskan nama grup artis yang foto-fotonya ingin kamu beli.)

Di formulir terdapat tabel-tabel dengan nomor-nomor (1, 2, …50, 51, 52… dan seterusnya), dengan kolom kosong tepat di samping setiap kolom angka. Inilah kode-nomor foto/pernak-pernik yang dijual; kolom kosong adalah untuk menuliskan seberapa banyak foto/pernak-pernik yang hendak kamu beli. Jadi taruhlah kamu ingin beli 3 lembar foto Arashi nomor 47 (soalnya kamu mau berikan foto itu untuk 2 temanmu dan menyimpan satu untuk kamu sendiri), tuliskan saja ‘3’ di kolom di samping nomor 47 di formulir.

Kalau kamu ingin beli foto/pernak-pernik dari lebih daripada satu grup artis, kamu perlu menggunakan satu formulir untuk masing-masing grup. Kayaknya buang-buang kertas ya, namun ini membantu layanan selanjutnya menjadi lebih cepat.

Selesai memilih dan menuliskan pesananmu? Sekarang keluarlah dari ruang bawah tanah (udara terbuka lagi! Hore! Meski hanya sebentar!), lalu pergilah ke lantai pertama (alias lantai dasar) dan berbarislah. Serahkan formulir(-formulir) yang kamu sudah tulisi ke staf yang akan mencarikan pesananmu. Lalu bayarlah dan… selesai deh membeli pernak-pernik orisinil Johnnny’s! Sekarang, cari tempat makanan  crepe yang enak yuk di Harajuku!
